Rent calendar
When Is Rent Due?
Rent due dates are usually simple once you know the lease date and billing cycle. The important part is separating the due date from grace periods, late fees, and payment processing time.
Direct answer
Rent is due on the date stated in your lease or rental agreement. Monthly rent is often due on the first day of the month, but weekly, biweekly, 4-week, and custom schedules can use different dates.
This page is general information, not legal advice. Local rules and lease wording can change what happens after rent is late.
How this page works
The lease usually sets the due date, such as the 1st of each month or every Friday. If the lease names a date, use that date before relying on a general rule.
Grace period is different
A grace period may give extra time before a late fee or other consequence. It usually does not move the actual due date unless the lease or local rule says so.
Payment timing still matters
Bank transfers, card payments, checks, and online portals can process at different speeds. If a payment needs time to clear, schedule it before the due date.
Worked examples
Rent due on the 1st
If your lease says rent is due on the 1st, the safest budget plan is to have the money ready before that date, even if a grace period exists.
Rent paid every 4 weeks
A 28-day schedule moves through the calendar instead of staying on one day of the month. That is why a rent calendar is useful.
